Caffeine Eye Twitches

Consuming excessive amounts of caffeine or being a long time time user of caffeine products can cause eyelid twitching to appear. Luckily it appears that this twitch is mainly caused by over stimulation and will go away with reduced or no caffeine ingestion. However, it’s likely that you don’t want to stop your caffeine intake altogether.

The easiest solution is to simply limit your caffeine intake. Drink coffee instead of espresso. Don’t drink coffee/espresso on the weekends anymore. Anything you can do to limit the amount of caffeine in your body and give your body a break from being constantly stimulated. A lot of people forget that stimulants have a lot of side effects in addition to their benefits. Don’t forget this.

Try to stay conscious of the kinds of things that contain caffeine. Many people might have a cup of coffee in the morning and then a soda during lunch. Try cutting out the soda and replacing it with a decaffeinated drink. It might take time for a noticeable difference in your eye twitch to occur since you might be ingesting 200mg of caffeine in the morning from coffee and another 70mg during lunch. That 70mg reduction might take 2-3 days before the previous effects of the caffeine have left your system.

This might sound odd but people report that getting their caffeine from a different, better source makes their eye twitching go away. If you’re drinking the cheapest coffee you can find it might be time to start purchasing gourmet coffee instead. If you are constantly drinking sodas for the sugar/caffeine high then it might be time to switch to coffee instead. Anything to switch things up in a sense.
